Trinidad and Tobago will officially observe the Divali public holiday on October 24, 2022.

In an update, the Government confirmed the date on which the "Festival of Lights" will be celebrated.

"Her Excellency, Paula-Mae Weekes, ORTT, President of the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago, in accordance with the provisions of Section 4(1) of the Public Holidays and Festivals Act Chapter 19:05, by notification, Monday, 24th October, 2022, as a public holiday in celebration of the Festival of Divali."

What is Divali?

Diwali is the five-day Festival of Lights, celebrated by millions of Hindus, Sikhs and Jains across the world.

Diwali, which for some also coincides with harvest and new year celebrations, is a festival of new beginnings and the triumph of good over evil and light over darkness.
