Crying is good for you - here's why

Crying is good for you, a new study claims - and here's why.

Sometimes all you need to do is sob when everything gets a bit too much.

When you're tired, when the kids are being A LOT, when money is tight, when work sucks..... often letting it all out makes things a whole lot better.

You may feel embarrassed or silly, and even that crying is a sign of weakness.

But listen up; a study has found that crying is actually good for you.

Researchers in Japan confirmed that crying can make you happier.

The team of researchers explained that it can help reduce stress, meaning you live a happier and calmer life.

Basically, it's is an act of self-defence against accumulating stresses.

“The act of crying is more effective than laughing or sleeping in reducing stress. If you cry once a week, you can live a stress-free life," said Hidefumi Yoshida told the Japan Times.

Yoshida believes watching tear-jerker movies, listening to emotional songs, or reading harrowing books can help make you feel better, even when you feel like a wreck.

Believe it or not, crying is a natural response humans have to a range of emotions.

Possible benefits of crying include self-soothing, relieving pain and stress, enhancing mood, and much more besides.

And it's more common than you might think. In the United States for example, women cry an average of 3.5 times per month and men cry an average of 1.9 times a month.
